Sky Arts Access All Arts Week

Make your school an arts school, and every child an artist with our classroom-ready resources.

Why the arts matter

“Every child is an artist” – Picasso

The arts have a critical role to play in developing the skills and behaviours that lead children to do better in school.

In fact, studies show that participating in creative activities encourage self-expression, build confidence, develop communication and critical thinking skills and a sense of identity.

Making way for the arts

Through our Sky Arts’ Access All Arts week initiative we’ve managed to reach hundreds of thousands of children across the country.

By supporting teachers to bring high quality arts teaching into their classrooms, we want to help schools make space for the arts and celebrate creative expression.

Four out of five teachers who took part in the week last year told us that they felt more confident to teach the arts after using the Access All Arts resources and 92% said that the week had a positive impact on their pupils, helping them to build their pupils’ confidence and develop skills such as self-expression and resilience, as well as arts literacy.

    Why Sky Arts?

As the UK’s only dedicated arts channel, Sky Arts exists to bring more art to more people. In 2020, we supercharged our mission to increase access to and drive participation in the arts, by throwing open the doors and making our channel free to air. As part of this mission, we’ve launched Access All Arts, a nationwide arts week for primary schools. We believe there is an artform out there for everyone and we’re excited to help people find it. But we also know that not all schools can easily access the arts. We want to change this. That’s why we are joining forces with leading artists and art organisations to help bring the arts to every child in every primary school across the UK and Ireland.
