As the UK’s only dedicated arts channel, Sky Arts exists to bring more art to more people. In 2020, we supercharged our mission to increase access to and drive participation in the arts, by throwing open the doors and making our channel free to air.
As part of this mission, we’re launching Access All Arts, a nationwide arts week for primary schools. We believe there is an artform out there for everyone and we’re excited to help people find it. But we also know that not all schools can easily access the arts.
We want to change this. That’s why we’ll be joining forces with leading artists and art organisations to help bring the arts to every child in every primary school across the UK and Ireland.
Access All Arts week invites teachers to join us on a week-long creative journey through the arts between the 6th and 10th June 2022. Teachers will be guided our expert team of artists and creatives, as well as some well-known faces.
They will be fully supported, every step of the way, with a jam-packed, fun-filled and ready-made programme of free learning materials to fill an entire week and more. Every day, children will be invited to discover a different artistic expression, explore a new artform, make something themselves and then share it with their peers.
By the end of Access All Arts week, we want to every classroom teacher to feel confident enough to deliver the arts and every child to feel confident enough to unleash their inner artist.
Teachers will be given access to five modules, built around five forms of artistic expression: Marks – Words – Sounds – Moves – Images
Within each module, schools will have the option to explore two different artforms. Choose from:
2D Mark Making and 3D Mark Making
Poetry and Storytelling
Singing and Instruments
Movement and Drama
Filmmaking and Photography
To experience the full range of art on offer, we recommend teaching an artform from a different expression each day over the Access All Arts week. This is what the week could like like in your school:
Monday – Marks – 3D Mark Making
Tuesday – Words – Storytelling
Wednesday – Sounds – Instruments
Thursday – Images – Photography
Friday – Moves – Movement
Teachers are invited to make this art week their own. Resources are easily adaptable to fit around you, your school and your pupils.
We want all primary school to Access All Arts. Resources are free for everyone and will be made available in the Resource Centre from 28th March 2022.
In the meantime, save the date and kickstart your year of creativity.
Access All Arts will be celebrating the arts year-round with monthly arts challenges and amazing prizes to be won for your school. By registering, you’ll be first in line for all our exciting announcements, opportunities, bonus content and classroom inspiration.
